This lesson is based on the daily routine of two real people with busy lives (Nico runs the restaurant the Blue Jar in Santiago de Chile). Sts begin by learning verb phrases to talk about everyday activities. There is then a pronunciation focus on linking and sentence stress, which will help Sts to understand spoken English. Sts then read about Nico’s daw and listen to an interview with his stepdaughter Amelia and decide whose day they think is more stressful. This is followed bv a grammar focus on prepositions of time and place, which are commonly used when we describe a typical day. The lesson ends with a speaking activity, where Sts ask each other about their typical weekdays, and they then write a description of their favorite day of the week.
! This lesson also reviews telling the time. This was taught at the beginning of Practical English Episode 2 on page 26. If you did not do this lesson, you will need to do this section first instead of the Optional lead-in.
